Your wedding cake can bring the colours, flowers and feeling of the day together. It also needs to taste wonderful and arrive safely at your venue. Here is how I help couples work through those decisions, one step at a time.
01 · Begin with the date
When should you get in touch?
Once you have a wedding date and venue, you have enough to make an enquiry. You don’t need a finished design, a flavour list or exact guest numbers. I take on a limited number of weddings so I can give each cake the attention it deserves, and popular dates can book well in advance.
Tell me the date, venue and approximate number of guests first. I can confirm availability and guide you through the decisions that follow. If your plans are still taking shape, that is absolutely fine.
02 · Find the right size
How much cake will you need?
Start with the number of people you would like to serve. Then think about when the cake will be cut: as dessert, alongside an evening buffet, or for guests to take home. The right size depends on how your venue serves it and whether other desserts are on the menu.
More tiers are not the only way to serve more guests. A smaller display cake can sometimes be paired with additional cake kept behind the scenes. I’ll help you choose a practical arrangement that looks right in the room and gives you the portions you need.
Give me an approximate guest count when you enquire. We can refine the portions as your plans become clearer. You can see current starting sizes and prices on the Cakes & Pricing page.
03 · Make it yours
Where does the design begin?
Bring whatever tells the story of your day: your flowers, a fabric or colour palette, invitations, the venue, or a handful of cake images that show what you’re drawn to. You can tell me what you don’t like, too. There is no need to choose an existing cake from the Gallery.
I look at the shape, texture and balance of the whole design. Sugar flowers can echo a bouquet or bring a favourite bloom into season on the cake. They’re shaped by hand, and many couples keep them after the wedding. Fresh flowers and other decorative details are considered around the overall design and the venue setting.

04 · Enjoy choosing
Which flavours should you choose?
Choose flavours you genuinely enjoy. You can have a different flavour in each tier, so there is room for a familiar favourite alongside something a little more adventurous. Think about what you would be happy to share with your guests, rather than trying to guess one flavour everyone will choose.
My postal sample boxes let you taste six selected flavours at home and compare them together. The Cakes & Pricing page shows some favourites and the current sample box details. If allergies or dietary needs are part of your plans, mention them when you enquire so we can discuss what is possible before making a decision.

05 · Picture it in the room
What happens at the venue?
Your cake should feel at home in its setting. A stand, table linen, the backdrop and nearby flowers all affect how it will look in photographs. If you have a particular spot in mind, share a photo with me. Cake stand hire is available, and I can help you think about a display that suits the cake and the room.
I deliver and set up the cake at your venue, so you can enjoy the day while I take care of the final presentation. Delivery and decorative details are quoted separately from the starting cake prices.
06 · The next step
What should you include in your first enquiry?
A short note is enough. The most useful details are:
- your wedding date and venue;
- an approximate guest count;
- any flowers, colours or styles you love;
- how you imagine serving the cake; and
- any questions or dietary needs you would like to discuss.
If some of these are undecided, leave them open. I’ll start by checking your date and asking what I need to create a personal quotation.
